Beauty Review - Natural Collection Coverup Stick

I am very prone to black circles and blemishes on my skin but I am also not a fan of a full face of makeup so I need something that lightly covers but still covers. Also I am a cheap skate and this product fills all my needs on this one. At only £1.49 this cover up stick isn't going to break the bank.

The texture of this product is relatively light and isn't greasy which is the problem I have had with some cover up sticks I have used. It blends easily and gives an adequate if rather light coverage.

The packaging on this is cheap which is no more than you would expect and there are only three colours. This is the lightest and I would say its probably a bit too yellow for my skin tone. Also if you twist too far, well you going to end up with a broken cover up stick.

I have definitely used better concealers but it does as advertised and is something that I would buy again for every day use.

P.S I am looking for a light coverage foundation - do you have any recommendations?

Beauty Review - Rimmel Lasting Finish Fancy a Dip?

I have never been a nail person and you'll be lucky if you can see my nails go past the end of my fingers. I also spend three hours a week with my hands in hot soapy water so don't think I am going to called up to be a hand model!! Recently though I am really into nail polishes, especially pastel shades (mainly brought on by jealousy of a girl at work - she has lemon yellow nails and a lemon yellow satchel - I could not be this co-ordinated with a month of planning).

I picked up this beautiful shade from Tesco for a bargain of £2.99 and decided after work today to paint my nails. I am really pleased with the the colour, it reminds me of cornflowers and Spring and actually makes my skin look relatively tanned. However I really didn't like the application - some nails seemed to paint really well and cover in a couple of coats, whereas others have gone a bit blotchy and I have had to take off and start again on one nail in particular. Like I said I am no expert but haven't had any other problems with other times. However so in love with the colour I'm going to persevere.

I would also like to say a massive congratulations to my best friend on completing the Lincoln 10k today in just over an hour for such an excellent cause. You go girl!! You can still donate here

Beauty Review - Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

So I am writing this post on a bank holiday Monday before going to the gym, what have I become? I never thought those words would come out of my mouth but here I am and I feel good about it. So what I've only lost a pound this week? I'm not bitter about it at all (OK maybe I am a bit but when I think realistically I know that I didn't really expect much more!!)

One side effect of the gym is that I am bloody knackered and a side effect of this is the massive black circles under my eyes, so to hide the fact that I am finding this hard concealer is required.

I brought the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory earlier this week from Tesco (£5.50). My trusty Bourjouis concealer had been running out for a while and I haven't had a chance to go somewhere like Boots to buy some more so supermarkets are my only beauty hope at the moment!!

The colour is very good for my skin tone and I find it easily blendable. It has good coverage for about 5-6 hours however I do find the consistency quite gloopy to start off with when you first apply to the skin. I just dab a little on my blemishes and then a gentle smear under each eye and then blend with my fingers. I would recommend this product if you are looking for something quite inexpensive that does the job

Beauty Review - Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Hair Conditioner

What do you do when your hair looks like utter crap and feels like straw? Complain about it and put it up all the time? Umm no? Just me? My hair has taken a lot of punishment with it being coloured, blow dried, straightened, brushed, plaited, pinned, hair sprayed and after all that my hair hasn't really been looking it's best. Anyways after all that I decided to purchase some Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner and it has been really good on my hair!! I now use this at least once a week (and more if my hair feels horrible). Still hate the colour though and I'm hoping to do something a bit different with it soon, keep your eyes peeled.

Beauty Review - Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

You were going to end up with a horrible picture of me wearing this lip balm but by the time I had edited out the bags under my eyes and the blemishes on my skin after a long week you couldn't even see the colour of the lip balm. The effect is also very subtle so it's difficult to photograph.

I love a lip stick but sometimes lip stick is just too much. Sometimes you want something low maintenance that just glides on and doesn't dry out your lips. Welcome this little product here. Yesterday at work I needed the full dramatic look of a red lipstick, I needed to feel good about myself and sadly that is what lipstick does for me. Today was a less in your face look and I really liked it.

It feels great to apply, like drawing on yourself with a giant crayon and is really moisturising. The only down point for me is the smell. I think it's meant to be minty but it just smells and therefore tastes a bit medicinal. This was a present from my sister and she knows me too well.

Have you tried any of these? What do you think?

Beauty Review - Max Factor Lasting Colour Lipstick Sunbronze

  • "For low maintenance lip colour, Long Lasting Lipstick from Max Factor provides long wearing luxurious colour without drying or feathering"

Excuse the frizzy hair, I am still trying to get used to my hair routine and yes I actually went to work like this. This is definitely not the worst I have looked going to work (actually very far from it), the picture on our website which is out there for the world to see is much worse as I am hungover as hell, looking pale and pasty and my hair is utterly rank and piled on top of my head, is it any wonder I am single?!?

I brought the Max Factor Lipstick in the supermarket the other day. I don't own a lot of makeup but I have 3 red lipsticks and 3 bright pink lipsticks but nothing like this colour. To me this seems to quite a sophisticated colour without going for the impact of red and I think it really suits my hair colour. The lipstick went on with ease and felt very moisturising, the colour lasted for a long time (I only had to reapply once) but I did feel that it bled more than other lipstick brands I own. It was only £8 and I'm hoping that if I have a large variety of colours, I will be a bit more adventurous in my everyday make up choices

What do you think? Have you brought any colours from the Max Factor range? Any brands you would recommend for an intro to grown up makeup?

Beauty Review - Babyliss Sleep In Rollers

"Create volume, lift and big curls, Babyliss Sleep-In Rollers provide volume and lift instead of tight curls. These rollers are very easy to use on damp or dry hair and are comfortable to sleep in"

I brought these rollers on impulse, no research, no reading up on different products, just brought them. I know I'm a bad beauty blogger but I am only just getting into the swing of these things, I normally only brush my hair once every two days and didn't know what a primer was until a few months ago!! I had my hair cut on Saturday and when the girl dried it she used a barrel brush to make the ends curl under which I really liked so I wanted to buy one of those for myself. I just wanted to try something new with my hair as when I get bored I chop it all off and regret it straight away!
So I brought these - Babyliss Sleep In Rollers

First instruction was to comb through and section hair. I guessed they meant split my hair into bits so that I could put a roller in equal bits so that's what I did. Then you have to place the roller at the end of your section and roll up in desired direction. I had no idea what the desired direction was meant to be, is it like when guys have their ears pierced and one means they are gay and one means they are very masculine or does rolling different ways create different effects?? I had no idea, still don't to be honest.

When I woke up in the morning, most of them had pretty much fallen out so I'm not sure I got the full effect and I think the issue is that I don't really know what I'm doing but I am really pleased with the result all the same. Like the packaging says they won't create tight curls but they do create more bounce and more movement in my hair. I hated how flat my hair was before I got it cut and before I actually styled it this morning I looked like I had escaped from an 80's soap opera (there is such a thing as too much volume!!)

I'm going to try again soon and see if I can get better at rolling, let me know if you have something similar or have any tips. What do you think? xoxo
